HearHere+ThereSM is virtual listening and spoken language sessions for children three years and above who are in a “school program.” They may be home schooled, in a regular preschool or in a public or private school. Services combine direct service to the child in collaboration with an adult coach on site with the child. The adult may be a parent or other caregiver, a teacher of the deaf, a general classroom teacher, a speech-language pathologist or a teacher assistant.
Goals for intervention are determined by family input and professional collaboration. Goals are typically based on improving auditory perception, increasing vocabulary, improving receptive and expressive language structures and building early literacy skills. Response to intervention is monitored regularly using criterion-based inventories, testing and task performance analysis.
The goal for children who have been identified as deaf or hard of hearing and whose families have chosen listening and spoken language as their mode of communication is to have listening, language, and pre-academic/academic skills comparable to hearing peers.
Whether your child is currently “catching up, keeping up or moving up,” HearHere+There can help increase his or her rate of progress.
