We Hear Here is celebrating three years.
During that time, we have provided over 3000 hours of direct service to CI children and families along with professional development and support to schools and stakeholders, pro bono.
Our tag line is Changing Lives through Connections. I love the way that is playing out, by helping some children enroll in school programs that meet their needs. So far, we have helped families connect with Mama Lere, The Moog School, Cobb County, GA auditory-based preschool, DePaul School for Hearing and Speech and an auditory-oral/verbal program in Saskatchewan Canada. I have also had some children transitioning from Early Intervention directly in to mainstream preschools with typically hearing peers.
We have also contracted with rural school districts and participated in a small grant to provide Early Intervention.
Most recently I joined a colleague to present a session on preschool assessments at the 2023 Alexander Graham Bell Listening and Spoken Language Symposium. The research for that session was based on our development of a criterion-referenced assessment for threes and fours. If you are working with preschoolers, this assessment is great tool for planning your targets for the upcoming year and to identify strengths and challenges for each child on your caseload. The red, yellow, green scoring continuum lets you track response to intervention over time. Check it out. The Mainstream Assessment of Readiness-Preschool (marc-p) chttps://lnkd.in/dpA-SgTT. You can also go to Success for Kids with Hearing Loss and choose Teacher Tools Takeout. Just put marc-p in the search bar.
